CBI: Norway legislation: Wood preserved with arsenic and chromium
Description
In the EU, the prohibition and restrictions on use of arsenic compounds in wood preservatives is laid down in Directive 76/769/EEC by means of Directive 2003/2/EC (technical adaptation of Directive 76/769/EC). As of 2005, the Norwegian legislation on arsenic compounds is harmonised with the EU Directive. In addition, Norway has introduced similar restrictions for chromium compounds in wood preservatives in its national legislation. The EU legislation does not cover chromium except for in combination with arsenic, and the Norwegian legislation is therefore stricter. This document provides information on the Norwegian requirements. For more information on the EU requirements, please see the related document. Publication date: July, 2007
