The European Union has laid down restrictions on the use of certain substances (lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury) in vehicles in Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles (ELV).

Sweden has implemented the restrictions in national legislation. This document provides information on the Swedish requirements for ELV.
