Three non-food Scientific Committees - the Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (SCCP), the Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER) and the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) -, composed of external, independent scientists, provide the Commission with the sound scientific advice it needs when preparing policy and proposals relating to consumer safety, public health and the environment.
These opinions frequently address issues of concern to stakeholder, policy makers and the general public but, by their nature, they are often difficult for a non-specialist to understand.
