Total Mercury in Tissue, Sludge, Sediment, and Soil by Acid Digestion and BrCl Oxidation

This Appendix provides two sample preparation (digestion) procedures for oxidation of total mercury (Hg) in solid and semi-solid sample matrices. These procedures may be used in conjunction with EPA Method 1631B:

Mercury in Water by Oxidation, Purge and Trap, and Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometry for determination of mercury in tissue, sludge, sediment, soil, industrial samples, and certified reference materials.
