The integral PSA 10.525 Sir Galahad is a field-proven instrument which can be used as a Continuous Emission Monitor (CEM) for the determination of both Total Hg and Hg speciation in a wide range of flue gases. The 50.043 Hg CEM offers Continuous Emissions Monitoring with dual analyser capability.
When used with the 50.026 Inertial probe and either the 50.036 or 50.044 sample conditioner, the PSA 50.043 provides a complete system for both field testing and bench scale studies. The system suffers no bias from any component in a typical stack gas matrix.
A Range of sample conditioning systems and probes are available to complement the above:
50.036 Dry Based Speciation Module
The 50.036 Dry Based Speciation Module receives hot filtered flue gas under a positive flow from the sample probe through a heated Teflon transfer line. The sample enters the heated oven and is split with part of the sample passing over the thermolytic convertor to convert all the Hg to the Hg0 form. The other part of the sample flows over a selective adsorbent to remove the HgCl2 leaving just the Hg0. The moisture is then removed using a Peltier Cooler so as to report the Hg levels on a dry basis.
Note: An advantage of the speciation module is that not only can it be run in the normal dry mode, but it can also be configured to run in the wet mode, allowing direct validation of results using two conversion techniques.
50.044 Dry Based Speciation Module - dual analyser capability
Based on the 50.036 Dry Based Speciation Module the 50.044 system gives the ability to feed two analysers with its additional thermolytic covertor.
PSA 50.026 Inertial Filter Probe
The basic principle of operation of the inertial filter is to accelerate the particulate material contained in the process gas in a vector direction with sufficient velocity to prevent the particles from sticking to the walls of the sampling tube and extract a gas sample to be transported to a gas analyzer.
