New search engine on EVISA's web portal

(07.10.2007)

The new "Advanced Search" available on the EVISA web portal allows the user to search for any text (longer than two characters) in any of the EVISA hosted pages including all databases. The search engine gives the user the full freedom to select the type of documents he is looking for but is also allowing for a very general search on the whole site.

The search engine therefore is able to search in the different types of documents, such as info pages, glossary, events and news as well as in any of the databases (journals, scientists, materials, instruments, components, companies and links). Since other external search tools (such as Google) cannot easily enter into the different databases hosted on the EVISA site, the Advanced Search will give much better response than those external search engines.

This full-text search engine does not replace the database search pages but is complementary to them. The database search tool allows to search for special entries in different fields, thus allowing for very differentiating selection of the required information. The new full-text advanced search tool allows for very specific text-related queries.

The resulting hit page from a query is a book-markable URL that can be used for linking to the query that automatically will always give the current response. The new "Advanced Search" also allows the user to select his options for ranking the search results with respect to relevance, actuality or just alphabetically in decreasing or increasing order.

We hope that you will enjoy the new tool by finding what you looked for !
