EVISA's web portal: Back to a trajectory of growth

(15.01.2025)

The EVISA web portal (www.speciation.net) has firmly established itself as the leading resource for speciation-related information, boasting over 17,500 pages of high-value content. Recognized as the go-to platform for professionals and researchers in trace element and speciation analysis, the portal continues to receive widespread acclaim from its dedicated user community.

As of December 2024, EVISA has welcomed over 23 million visitors, with an impressive 2.83 million visits recorded in 2024 alone. During the past year, users downloaded approximately 11.6 million pages, underscoring the platform’s relevance and utility.

Our journey of growth began to accelerate significantly in 2007, following the opening of EVISA’s German office in Münster. In 2011, we nearly doubled our annual visit count compared to the previous year. Although the growth rate slowed in subsequent years, our user base continued to expand steadily. By continuously analyzing user activity, we have refined the site’s versatility and usability to better meet our community’s needs.

However, starting in 2018, search engines like Google began down-ranking EVISA due to the absence of HTTPS support. Recognizing the importance of this update, we upgraded our server in September 2022 to fully implement the HTTPS protocol. This critical step allowed us to regain much of the user base we had lost and restore our momentum. By 2024, we successfully returned to a trajectory of consistent growth.
